The Death of Me

Yes, yes(shaking my head side to side in disappointment)....the death of me will be cargo pants! HA!

Here's why:

When David was an assistant market manager (he used to cut meat and became very skilled at it) he would wear a plain 'ole shirt and Dickies....work pants, covered by a white long market coat. Those work pants would come home dirty, stinky and splattered with blood, goo....whatever and I could just wash them, stick them in the dryer and WHHHALA, they were ready for work the next day. Almost like insta fabric if that makes any sense. :P

Well, one week after our Mimi was born, David started a new job. At that job he could wear shorts, jeans, dress pants....basically whatever he wanted that was in good taste and reason. I didn't have to worry too much about his wardrobe during that time. He was in that job for a few years (time and title held him there) and really wanted to take on a different type of job within the same company. He worked so hard and studied to achieve his goal. He was so excited when he realized that his goal would be met. He was then going to be outside. All the time...during the rain, snow, sleet, thunderstorms, hot summer, cold winter...whatever the elements, he would be right there in them.

The thing I liked about him having this new job was that he was given an allowance for his work clothes so he could pick out whatever he felt he needed or wanted to wear. Who doesn't love your company supplying your clothes? Anyway, the type of clothes that he had to choose from were made of a material almost like Dickies so I didn't really have to worry about those clothes either.

On occasion David would wear a shirt that I thought needed to be ironed (not too bad but a little touch up wouldn't help) and he would say "Eh, it's ok". It would drive me nuts because he wouldn't care what it looked like in the grand scheme of things because of him having to climb poles, crawling through attics, crawling under houses or trekking through the woods or whatever his job consisted of that day. In reality, if I had ironed it a little, you wouldn't be able to tell it when he got home.

Besides, I couldn't have convinced him otherwise. You see, David is strong willed and doesn't do things he doesn't want to do. He tells you like it is. He's not a fake person. Something I admired in him long ago before we even dated. He doesn't conform. I don't say that as criticism towards him, that's just how he is and people who actually know him, know that. That is one reason why I love him so much! He doesn't try to be like everyone else. Funny thing is, I was once accused of "keeping" him from something. Ummm ok, like I really possess the superpowers to strap him down and keep him from doing whatever it is......but whatever you want to think is fine with me. No skin off my back. Ohh silly people. How comical you can be sometimes. Thank you for the laughs. :)

Anyway, a few months ago, David was approached about a management position within the same company. Yes, exciting!! Scary but exciting because there are lots of changes that go along and could in the future go along with this decision. He decided to go for yet another chance to learn a different aspect of the company. I'm so thankful to God that He has been there with David at this company every day. I really believe that!

With this new job, that meant different clothes again. As a manager, his boss would rather he not wear shorts or jeans. He has to wear more dressy clothes. David has an endless wardrobe of Polo shirts but not necessarily pants. All of his pants were basically dirty work pants (not dirty, just dirty stained) which means he had to go shopping. I learned a long time ago living with my brother that men have their own sense of style no matter what you pick out so I don't attempt to buy clothes on a regular basis for David. He knows what he likes and what he is comfortable with so I let him shop for himself. Plus he's not a baby and is well capable of picking out his own clothes. Not to say that I haven't bought things for him in the past, but with him entering into a management position....new territory for him with this company....I want him to be as comfortable as possible. So what does he pick out? Cargo pants! Coupled with a nice Polo shirt and belt, cargo pants can look just as nice as regular dressy pants. Not suit pants of course, but dress pants. He looks sooo good dressed up too! ;-)

The downside of cargo pants.....I loathe ironing them! You can't completely get all of those little side pockets to lay flat enough to iron without totally screwing up the pocket part. And don't even get me started (insert Z snap here) on the flaps that go with all of those stupid pockets. Why do they even need so many pockets anyway?

I was thinking tonight as I was taking them out of the dryer how these pants would be the death of me. LOL! Always trying to make them look like they were just bought at the store is next to impossible. If you have a way of keeping your man's pants looking brand spanking new.....PLEEEASE let me know! But don't suggest starch....doesn't seem to go too well with all of the crevices these pants possess because of all those stupid pockets and flaps.

No really, it's what he likes and is comfortable with and as long as he's happy, then I'm happy! :) Love you babe!!
