Tagged

I haven't blogged much lately because I have been extremely exhausted. Too tired to do anything but sit at the computer only to check important emails. Besides being a domestic engineer (LOL) , I have now added teacher to my many list of things to do so by the time it comes to my computer time, I am just worn out. We have gone out of town, had speech therapy visits, new baby visits plus running a lot of errands so I really think all the busyness is catching up with me. Anyway, this will be just a short little blog because I was "tagged" not too long ago in Meredith's blog and I wouldn't want to disappoint, so here goes...

Here are the rules:

1) Link to the person who tagged you.

2) Post the rules on your blog (copy and paste 1-6).

3) Write 6 random things about yourself (see below).

4) Tag 6 people at the end of your post and link to them.

5) Let each person know they have been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.

6) Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

ABOUT ME:

1) I LOATHE bugs and especially spiders. (Funny thing is, the movie Spiderman is on the tv and I'm actually watching it). One time when I was pregnant with my first, I was due any day and my hubby had to work that day. I went into the nursery for something and saw a huge spider sitting in a gift bag. I called my mom (who lives 20-30min away) and was freaking out about the spider being in my baby gift bag. She was so afraid that I would work myself up and go into labor that she drove all the way out to my house just to kill the spider. What won't mommy's do for their girl's?

2)I don't do well with change...and I'm not talking about the little jingly things in your purse either.

3)I am addicted to Dt. Dr. Pepper! LOVE IT!!

4)I have a twin sister, as some of you may know, but I am 3 minutes older than she is. We were the first set of twins in 77 years on my mom's side of the family. I also have a brother that is five years older than me.

5)I hate to fold laundry and don't like for anyone else to load the dishwasher. And when loading the dishwasher, I put all the cups on one side and make sure that the silverware is in a specific order (ex: spoons, then forks, then kids silverware, then butter knives, sharp knives and lastly the big cooking utensils). It drives me nuts if something is "out of place".

6)I would rather clean house then cook, although I am trying to change that, but then again..remember, I don't do well with change. LOL!!

Ok, I'm going to tag:

Oh Happy Day!!

UGH!! I am soooo exhausted. I don't really even see how I am typing this right now. Everything on my body hurts...it's a sign of old age. Let me just tell you about our day today.

We got up early and took Riley (our malti-pom) to the vet to get his annual rabies shot and to be groomed. I usually take him to the local Petsmart but they wouldn't groom him because his rabies shot from last year had expired since I took him a month ago...go figure!! So take note of that for those of you who didn't know. We came back home and Meggy and I started school. We then broke for lunch and then had the boys lay down for a nap and we started back doing schoolwork. At 1:30pm I got a call saying "This is so & so from so & so realty and we have an agent who would like to show your house today sometime between 3:30p and 5:30p." WHAT??????? We weren't expecting the house to start showing so quickly and sure as the day is long, the house was NOT up to showing standards. I looked around and thought 'I can't say no. This could be a potential buyer!' so I asked her if they wouldn't mind coming at 4:30p and she said that was ok. Since we were in the middle of doing school work, we immediately had to stop and the race was on. Of course, the boys had just fallen asleep! So the two of us girls were literally running around, and I mean literally running trying to get stuff done. I had sooo much to do too and I had to stop and ask God to help me and He again reminded me (along with David) that if this was the family picked out for our house then they wouldn't care about the little things..like nooks and crannies. So I tried to just focus on all the major stuff like cleaning all of the bedrooms, bathrooms, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning the kitchen and did I mention that I had curriculum all over the entire dining room table? AND on top of that, I went downstairs to find that Dee-deed's room was a travesty. UGH!! Another room to clean. Of course the one day that she doesn't make up her bed and put away her clothes (as if she does that anyway-LOL!), someone wants to come and see the house. Oh let me just tell you. I was sweating so bad and my face was so red from all of the work I had been doing. NOW PLEASE don't think that we live in filth!! I try to keep our house clean every day, but when I know people are coming over (even family and friends) I have to have an absolutely spic and span shiny house. Anything less(to me for my house) is unacceptable. I am fine going to someone else's house who may not have picked or tidied up things before I came over, but because I am such a neat freak and I believe I have OCD in the cleaning department, my humble abode must always be clean. **Rabbit trail** I feel that if my husband can work as many hours as he does in all of the weather elements, then the least I can do is have him come home to a clean house, but I digress.

Anyway, I had been doing so much cleaning that by the time I was done I thought I wouldn't be able to stand up. The person with his realtor came at 4:23pm. I was at the door and told them that I was leaving so I loaded the kids up in the van with all of our dirty and clean laundry (because I don't want strangers looking at our skivvies) and we pulled out of the driveway and onto a side street in our neighborhood. I pulled the van over and started praying and thanking God for helping me get what I had to get done and asked Him to please bless the showing and bless my hard work. Well sure as I was driving back down the street, I saw the realtor leaving. WHAT????? It had been less than five minutes! That's right..all that hard work for less than a five minute showing. OHHHHH I was p*****!!! I pulled back into the garage and went inside and called our realtor. I asked her what did it mean in realtor terms if a person doesn't even stay at a house for five minutes?? She said that it was probably because he might have been looking for something specific and obviously we didn't have it so there was no need to continue looking. WEEEEELLL okay then! She said she would get some feedback from the realtor who showed it so I asked her to send it to me as soon as she got it. I want to know what our house didn't have to offer him. Was something wrong with it? Was it not clean enough because I would have to beg to differ on that one!!!

We eventually left and went to pick up Riley from the vet and they did not do what I had asked them to do. I specifically said short but not shaved. This is what they did to him.

You might be thinking that he looks fine but I'm telling you he looks like a rat. We were joking around calling him a Drat or a Rog (for rat dog). :)

As I was uploading the pictures of Riley I noticed some pictures on my camera that I did not take. Check them out. I now know who the culprit was due to the shoe picture. LOL!!

By the way, the picture taker is not the little man in the pics. It's the little man with the new shoes on. LOL! Just gotta love my babies!!

On a sad note...& a great day!

Today I was subjected to the witherings of a lonely little fellow. His short life must have been a hard one. He obviously felt the need to end it all. You could tell he was in turmoil as he went about his decision. And finally the end came. He headed straight for the drop-off and then ~ripple~...he fell into the water with no thought left unturned. That little bee just ended it right there.

BAHHAAAAAAAAAA!! I had you going there didn't I? I know..I'm messed up!!! Seriously, I watched a bee commit suicide today. He crawled straight to the edge of the pool and jumped in. Wonder why? Oh come on, I was just trying to make a funny!! ;)

Seriously though, today was a great day! I know there were people praying for me and I felt those prayers! All the praise goes to God! Today was the first day of 1st grade for Meggy. We started late morning and had a little bit of a rough start because I had given the boys some new blocks to play with and it ended up in an argument and my oldest cat, Ittie-bittie, decided to escape from the yard through a hole under the fence. She's a scoundrel. It was the constant interruption that was the rough part of it, but things finally settled down and we were working on school. We broke for lunch and then the boys went down for a nap and Meggy and I continued with school. She did great!! Towards the end you could tell that she was getting a little tired of it, but that was to be expected. This was our first day of school, a new learning experience for the both of us and a new routine that we will have to get accustomed to. It was fun! Tonight I made her start a journal. This is something that I want her to do so that we can look back at the end of the year and see how much her writing, phonics, spelling and thought processes have developed. Today her journal entry said, "My mom is my teacher. I had pizza rolls for lunch." Now, I know you may be thinking big whoop, but for us that is great. I don't need a big entry now, just something for her to express what she did today.
This is of Meggy practicing some of her handwriting.

After school was finished I decided to take them swimming where the above "incident" happened. It was so nice..a little chilly, but nice. It counts as P.E. for Meggy too which is an added bonus! We were basically the only ones there. I would rather go when no one is there then when it is crowded. The kids had fun and I realized it was time to go when Boogie's bottom lip was quivering. So anyway, that's pretty much a wrap up of our day.

I recently saw a church sign that said, "A day hemmed in prayer won't unravel". I have been repeating that saying to myself over the last few days and I really believe it helped me today. Thank you to those who prayed for us today! I ask that you would please continue to pray for me as I teach Meggy this year that God would help me do what I believe He has called me to do. I know He will equip me! Please pray for Meggy that she will thrive from this experience and gain all the knowledge that she is supposed to gain and then some. Please pray for the boys that they will understand that school time is school time and that they need to play together nicely. I cherish your prayers! Loves!! :)

August 9, 1976

Oh goodness..another year older today. *Sigh* Because I am a "Southern Lady" , I will choose not to divulge my age but it has been a great thirty-two years. ;) I am blessed to share this day with one of my bestest friends in the world. Our Dee-deed! She has been apart of my life since our day of conception, our days kicking each other in the womb(oh wait, that was me kicking her..she's the one who came out black and blue and upside down..LOL), our 18 years of sharing a half clean-half messy room(mine was always the clean side), our years of big teeth and awful haircuts, our years of heartache and years full of joy and laughter! She is the only one (besides God) who knows my every thought and feeling and even though we are fraternal we think the same and often times finish each other's sentences. She has been there for me many times more than I have been for her and has even seen one of my babies born. She is truly a gift from God to my life. I am so thankful for her everyday even though I may not say it! Happy Birthday Dee-deed! I love you so much! :)

The Good Crazy Life

Life is crazy! That's about all I can say. Crazy in a good way though. It has been so hot this year that we've had to stay in doors a lot. Granted we have a neighborhood pool that I could utilize but some days have been just too hot even to go to the pool with little ones. One of our "indoor" days was spent like this.

They decided to pretend that they were pregnant. We have some good friends that we had seen recently and they were pretending to be "Mrs. Amy". They have their "babies" stuffed under their shirts and when I asked how the babies would come out they said "We just pull them out." HAHA!! If they only knew....

One of our local "jumpy" places has open free times almost everyday during the summer. I thought the kids might enjoy going and I was right. They had a blast!

Boogs was scared to go up...

but he eventually decided to go down...

Going down together.

They were so hot from all the fun. Meggy's cheeks are soo red!

They were pooped!

A good friend of mine, Cortney, came into town and we decided to get some girl's together and have a girl's night. We only went to dinner but had such a good time catching up with each other's lives. Of course, I didn't get a picture..darn it!!

Another friend of mine, Allison, also came into town and we decided to get together for a quick visit before she had to leave. I wish all of my "away" friends lived closer. :( I love this saying.."Good friends are like stars, you don't always see them but you always know they're there." :)

Allison and two of her four adorable children, Stephanie(my best friend from high school), me, Allison(Dee-deed) and Meggy. (See Allison, I told you it would end up on the blog...HAHAHAHAHAHA!)

Boogs and me.

The last two weeks have been so busy and I feel as though it's not going to slow down either. I am in the process of getting ready to start homeschooling Meggy. She "officially" doesn't start until the day after Labor Day but we will probably start sooner than that. I am excited about it and I really believe she is too. I know it will be a big adjustment but I am trusting in the Lord that He will help me do what I believe He has called me to do. So, please keep us in your prayers.

Rest

I haven't blogged much the last couple of days because I have been sooo busy! We have decided to put our house up for sale (yes we know it's the end of the 'season' and yes we realize the market isn't that great, but..) I have been quite the little bee getting things 'ready'. I have felt overwhelmed but liberated at the same time. There is nothing like cleaning out closets, drawers and anything else that needs to be sorted through. I have a pile of things to donate to our local women and children's charity but still feel as though I have tons of more stuff that I can't seem to 'let go' of for one reason or another. I look around and think, how come I just went through that and it looks as if there is even more stuff??

I have had this sense of needing to just get rid of stuff that I/we don't use, wear, play with, watch or whatever. I heard a preacher say one time (and I'm summing it up to what I took it in as) that if you have to have storage units filled with things that won't even fit in your house then that's being materialistic. Now we have plenty of storage in our house that has things like Christmas, Easter and fall decorations, extra kitchen table chairs, boxes of pictures etc. and to me those things are important but we don't have an extra storage unit somewhere filled to the brim with excess miscellaneous things. Before you start cussing me out, I'm not calling anybody materialistic if you happen to have one, but for me personally, I just don't see the need to hold onto stuff if I don't need it or haven't used/worn it (etc.) in at least 6 months. I think, why not let someone else use it?

Today as I was meticulously cleaning every nook and cranny, ok so not every nook and cranny, I was thinking about how I was wearing myself out. And it was almost as if God said, "Amanda, if it's MY will for your house to sell then the people buying your house won't care about every nook and cranny. They will love the house no matter what." I mean WOW!! Here I was thinking how what I was doing was what was best, but maybe God was telling me to rest some. I'm not kidding...I was up at 6:45a this morning due to an urgent phone call about one of my precious grandmothers , and I had been going non stop. Our realtor was coming over tonight to fill out the paperwork, take pictures and put a sign in the yard and if you know anything about me, then you know how I get when people come over. Everything has to be perfect. I guess that's the OCD coming out in me. Not such a great trait to have all the time.

Anyway, thank you Lord for reminding me to rest. I'm about to go plop down in my bed and hopefully pass out of mere exhaustion only to wake up refreshed, renewed and raring to start all over tomorrow. Maybe not the meticulous part of it.

Please be in prayer that if it's the Lord's will, which I know all things are possible through Him, then our house would sell.

~In case you are wondering, my grandmother was rushed to the hospital this morning but was doing well enough this afternoon that they let her go home. She is 94 years old and one of the most precious people I have ever had the chance to know. She is gentle and quiet and has such a humorous side to her that you just giggle when you listen to her talk or get teary eyed when you see her smile. I don't get to see her very much because of where she lives, but both of my grandmother's hold a special place in my heart. I love you ma-mas!!
