It's Been a While

Oh my goodness, I sure haven't blogged in a while. I have been extremely nauseated and sick and by the time I try to sit down and blog about our life, I'm just too tired. But, we have had lots of happenings this month.

In my previous post before this one, I talked about how Meggy, Dee-deed and I had gone to the Christmas Village. I LOVE the Christmas Village and whenever we get home I am always more in the Christmas spirit. So that Sunday Meggy and I decided to put up the Christmas tree. Yes, I do realize that we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet, but we get to enjoy it a little bit longer than everyone else.

Of course, Ittie-Bittie helped too, just in a not so much kind of way.

We got the tree completely put together and I put all of the lights on but that's about as far as we have gotten. I do have the mantle decorated but no pics yet. Soon to come.

If you keep up with my sister's blog then you would know about her cat Skootie-Pootie. When Allison moved out she couldn't take Skootie with her at that time so she left her here with us. Well, Skootie decided to get out of our fence and was gone for three weeks. We had all pretty much decided that Skootie had gone off to die somewhere and we were all very sad because Allison has had Skootie for 17 years. Well all of a sudden the other day, Skootie showed up on our back porch. We have no idea where she had been that whole time. She had lost a lot of weight and her hair was really matted and had something stuck in it. It smelled like oil or something that might be in a garage so we are wondering if maybe she got stuck in someone's garage. Anyway, Allison was so excited that she was back and has since come to get Skootie and take her to her new home.
This was right after she had come back home and she was being sooo loving. NOT typical of Skootie and she was singing...well, some people call it purring.


We also celebrated David's 33rd birthday on the 11th. The kids decided to help me make and decorate his cake this year.



I had to get the oil changed in the van before we left on a trip to see my extended family in Georgia. Thank goodness this dealership has a kiddie area....kept the kids busy the whole time!!




As I said, we took a quick trip to visit my Georgia family. They are the best and we always have so much fun with them whether it's on my dad's side or my mom's. We went over there for a special reason..my dad's mom, Mama at the brown house (what we called her when we were little) was turning 80 and so my aunts and uncles decided to throw her a surprise birthday party. She didn't know that we were coming. She just thought that my dad and Judi were coming to visit.





While we were there celebrating my grandmother's birthday, my aunt Susan decided to surprise David with a cake too. Since David is a BIG Alabama fan and decided to "rub it in a little" when Georgia lost to Bama, she saw it fitting to "rub it in a little too" with his cake.

We had such a fun time and have even contemplated moving over there to be closer to family.

I went to MOPS yesterday and had such a good time, especially when I found out that I won this.

A Fun Day!

Today was fun! Meggy & I met Dee-deed and we got some breakfast and headed down to the event that I look most forward to every year. Christmas Village!!! I think this year was the biggest. They had over 700 booths and it literally took us from 10:00a to about 2:30p to walk through it all. We saw all sorts of crafts and creations and of course looked at other things and thought 'Now how come I didn't think of that?'. I saw some very cute things but with the limited amount of money I had to take with me, a lot of the cute things were ooohhhed and aahhhhed over but left hanging on the racks. I love the children's clothes down there and especially the smocked dresses but I can't bring myself to pay $70-$80 for one dress. I even saw the cutest pj gown and it alone was $44. I had to try and explain to Meggy why I couldn't pay $44 for one single gown. We saw all sorts of things from clothes to Christmas decorations to soaps to personalized items and even some type of hammock thingy. This is definitely a girlie show because there weren't too many guy things to look at. One particular item that always had people standing in lines was the dip and soup tables. We tried so many dips and I think I even walked away with nine different types of dips. Some herb garden,crab,cheesy bacon,veggie and then some dessert dips, chocolate covered cherry, strawberry and pumpkin pie. I can't wait to eat some of those. They will be great with some sliced apples or mini vanilla wafers! I also had to get a "hot" dip for David. You know, the kind only men can eat because us silly women would be screaming for a gallon of water. I ended up getting him two different kinds and he'll probably be the only one eating it. He likes that kind of hot stuff. Meggy got to play with special bubble wands and make some big bubbles and she even got to sit down and color some pictures for one of the local radio stations. But when it came down to turning in her picture so they could hang it up, she didn't like that idea and so wanted to take her picture with her. I think the thing she was most excited about was seeing Santa Claus. She didn't like the idea of going and sitting on his lap so we just stood off to the side so she could get a good look at him. She couldn't wait to tell David about it.

All in all it was a great day and we had a great time...that is until I came home and was so nauseated that I threw up. Hey, at least I didn't throw up at the Christmas Village.....that would have been really gross and embarrassing since I tend to be sick in a not so nice way. LOL!

A *Little* Political

I don't like to get political but I am so glad this election is almost over. I am tired of seeing all of the negative campaign ads and all the signs. As if placing fifteen signs all in a row on the interstate as I'm traveling 70mph will make me want to vote for that person.....

Thinking about tomorrow I know that God's hand will be in the election. Whoever wins will be God's will for this country. He already knows the outcome and already knows what the future holds for this country. I'm not going to get into a debate of which candidate has the best policies or agendas. But one very important and major issue that I take into account is which candidate is for life. Life meaning supporting life and not thinking someone has the right to take it away.

One thing I don't understand about this country is how if someone takes a pregnant woman and kills her and her baby as in the Scott Peterson case, that person goes to trial with the charges of killing the woman and killing the unborn baby she was carrying. But if someone walks into a clinic who is pregnant, and decides she doesn't want the baby for whatever reason makes the choice to terminate the pregnancy, it's that persons right. But that person and doctors and nurses involved aren't held accountable for their actions in killing the unborn child, but instead are covered and protected under some "right and choice" umbrella. I don't understand how people, lawmakers, whoever say that it's a baby when someone as in Scott Peterson kills it, but it's only a fetus if the mother chooses to terminate the pregnancy. I don't understand. My thoughts are getting away here.....

My point in this blog was just to say that I hope everyone voting is carefully and prayerfully voting for the candidate who chooses life. I know and understand that everyone has their own opinions, but for me this is one of the most important issues in this election. The economy, the war and all the other things will fall into place, but life is what keeps us alive.

Meggy was so excited and she didn't believe us at first. She had told us a few nights before that she had prayed and asked Jesus for a baby sister. Isn't that precious??

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for my mom and our Dee-deed(my sister). I don't get to see them very much just because of where we live and because of the fact that Dee-deed recently moved out, but when they do come and visit, I enjoy it. Last night they came because Dee-deed's cat of 17 years has gotten away. Dee-deed hadn't been able to get her yet because of some things going on with her townhouse, so she had left Skootie-pootie here until things are ready. Skootie found a way out of the fence and has disappeared. We have looked for her for a few days with no luck. We are sad because we just don't know where she has gone. We have posted flyer's and were even out with flashlights last night looking for her. We are praying that someone has found her or that she comes back home.

Anyway, I am thankful for them. They are two of my best friends and I can tell almost anything to them. You are hopeful that the time comes when your relationship with your mom changes from a parent/child relationship to a friend/friend relationship and that's how we are. Of course, mom still gives much needed parent advice sometimes, but knows when to be a friend at the same time. Dee-deed and I have a special relationship anyway. We have always been there with each other through the good and bad times and she gives me advice when needed. She reminds me to look at the good in things when I get worried sometimes ,but gently tells me to calm down a bit and think about things before making rash decisions. I'm really blessed to have each of them in my life and I love both of you with all my heart!!
