Happy Fall Ya'll!

I love the Fall time!! I love the colors, the smells, the cooler days and all that this time of the year brings with it!!

Our city decided not to participate in Fall ball this year so our boys are not playing baseball. They still have football and the League of Angels (special needs baseball) but not regular non competition baseball. I was kinda sad that they chose not to participate in fall ball but it really was a blessing in disguise. With Boogs breaking his collar bone he wouldn't have been able to finish out the season so that would have been a complete waste of money. The big thing is that we aren't constantly being rushed here and there 3 to 4 nights a week. Weeknights are always so hectic anyway with getting homework done, getting lunches ready for the next day, dinner, shower/baths, clothes picked out, story time, night night prayers etc. You know how it is! I'm sooo loving the fact that we are home at night as a family and can relax so to speak amidst all of the other things that have to be done.

Anyway, with the fall time comes the bringing out all of the decorations for the upcoming seasonal activities. I do decorate for fall but not halloween. Ok, so I do have a smiling light up pumpkin that I put on the front porch but that's only out until halloween and then it gets put up. But what I can't stand is all of the stupid scary halloween junk that people drape their properties with. I think it's ridiculous and does nothing but scare little kids. But to each his own I guess.

Anyway, back to fall....Last year when I packed up my fall wreath I realized that it was on it's last leg and would need to be re-done for this year. I mean, 10 years is long enough. The wreath itself is ok but the decorations on the wreath had faded and you could tell where the birds had been picking at the leaves and berries. It didn't look that bad but it was bad enough for me to think it needed to be redone. Soooo, last year during all of the Christmas season I kept an eye out for fall seasonal items that were on sale. I got a steal!! I bought lots of the fall foliage and things for dirt cheap. Some as cheap as 25cents!! You can really find some good stuff if you just look!

I wish I had taken a picture of the old wreath so you could see the difference but here is the wreath re-done.

I decided to keep the original bow on the wreath just because I'm lazy and don't feel like re-doing a bow right now. Yes, it is a little faded too, but it still compliments the wreath quite nicely so why mess with it? LOL!

My mom knows I like to make things like this. I have even made Christmas wreaths too, so she asked me if I would make her a cornucopia to put on her table for Fall/Thanksgiving.

Here is how it turned out. I love it!

If you are looking for some type of decoration to hang on the front door or place on your dining room table ,it's really quite easy. All you have to do is buy a wreath (if that's what you are looking for to put on the front door), look at all of the seasonal type of decorations and pick out your favorites, get a cute bow or make one with your favorite ribbon and basically just start hot gluing the pieces on your wreath. You might want to play with it first to see where you want the pieces to go. Put your bow on it and then WHALLA...you have your wreath. You can also use those hanging metal planters that you can find usually at any decorating type home store. I have used one of those for the spring time and put one of those green styrofoam floral arrangement blocks in the planter to hold the silk flowers in place in case of high winds or rain.

I'm no professional but I do enjoy making decorations like these. It just takes a little bit of imagination!

Happy Fall Ya'll!! :)
